Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett Announces Staff Shakeup Including New Chief of Staff, Policy Assistant

Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett recently announced a shakeup to his staff, including a new Chief of Staff and Policy Assistant.

Christina Temple (pictured above, right) will serve as a senior advisor to Hargett and lead legislative affairs with the Tennessee General Assembly and Tennessee’s congressional delegation. Temple will also “play a critical role in strengthening the department’s relationships within state government,” Hargett’s office notes.

“I am excited to welcome Christina to the Secretary of State’s office,” Hargett said in a statement. “We are fortunate to have someone with her extensive skill set and vast experience join our team. Christina will be vital in strengthening our department’s legislative outreach and connection with constituents across Tennessee.”

Hargett also announced that Christian Cervantes (pictured above, left) will serve as his policy assistant, where he will “assist with the department’s outreach to constituents, research, and coordination of public outreach events,” while providing administrative support to the chief of staff and general counsel.

“I am proud to welcome Christian Cervantes as our new Policy Assistant,” Hargett stated. “Christian’s experience and commitment to public service will play an important role in the department’s work to serve Tennesseans.”

Cervantes previously served as a talent acquisition specialist at Hospital Corporation of America Healthcare. Temple was the New Hampshire state director for the Republican National Committee during the 2022 election cycle.

Both of Hargett’s new staff members also have previous experience working on multiple political campaigns. Temple, for example, notably worked as a coordinator on the Delegates and Party Organization team in President Trump’s 2020 campaign.

Hargett’s staff shakeup comes a week after multiple transitions to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s leadership team, including his appointments of a new policy director, press secretary, and senior advisor,  The Tennessee Star previously reported.
